By The Time You Read This...

I might be dead. Well, kidding...but if I'm not dead, I will at least be dead to the world for a while. You see, I'm not the best sleeper in the world and I can't ever fall asleep on my own at a reasonable hour. As such, I sometimes take an over the counter sleep med (at the direction of my doctor) to help me fall sleep. I also have a ridiculous tolerance for certain types of medication, which means that the regular dosage never works for me. So, I always take double the amount on the label (again, at the direction of my doctor).

Now, this doesn't usually present a problem unless you forget that you already took the medicine and then take a second dose. The best part is that I'm not actually sure if I did take it twice. I might have, but it's really anybody's guess at this point. Yes, I am that dumb. Mr. Chick has officially declared me an idiot and keeps taking my pulse to make sure I haven't died without realizing it.

Seriously, I'm not really sure how I don't fall down more. I better go lie down before I hurt myself.

  1. I am the exact opposite of you. I can only tolerate like half the prescribed dosage of those kinds of meds and even then I am night of the living dead for about 36 hours.

  2. hahhaha. This is worse than my Overdose on vitamins the other night...and I thought I was dying then. I would really think I was dying if I took too many sleeping pills. One Tylenol Sleepy time has me out like a light.

  3. I can't tell you how many times I forget if I've taken something. My husband told me I should see a neurologist for my memory issues! I told him it's menopause and to back off!!

  4. I always forget if I've taken something. I take One A Days and I'm all, "Did I take it already? Or not?"

    Hope you sleep well!

  5. OMG, I don't know how many times I've done this! Always pisses me off when the toddler (and HUBS!)don't play along with mommy sleep time.

Having not slept a full night in about a week, I feel your pain.
Best of luck! and yeah, we'll all be checking in on ya.

  6. ok that first line would be a good opening line in a book-you momentarily made my heart stop. i take sleep meds too and can't tell you how close I come to doing this...

  7. I am the same way. I can't sleep either and I often forget if I have taken a sleeping pill and sometimes take double.

  8. I don't think you're dumb at all....but maybe that's because I can relate. One time I mistakenly took twice the doseage of my fiber pills because they looked just like my allergy medicine....or how about the time that instead of feeding the dog and giving her a shot of insulin (she's diabetic) I gave MYSELF the injection (I'm diabetic too). So yeah....not dumb at all in my book

  11. What is worse is that my husband is a physician and he gets mad when I don't trust what he gives me. What's that for? Are you trying to kill me? I really think he is.....

  12. You need to get a pill container with a timer on it like grannies have to use. At least your husband is checking your pulse.

  13. I do the same thing! I forget about taking things so often it is scary. Normally it is my sleeping meds or pain meds that I can not remember. I actually have considered writing it down so I do not overdose. :) But, then I forget to do that..
